For the only the second time in the history of Semiconductors, the industry is expected to experience two consecutive years of decline in revenues. According to James Hines who is a research director at Gartner, the industry is expected to decline at a 0.6 percent clip in 2016 and the market is desperate for the next in demand driver to emerge and consequently become the tide that lifts all boats so to speak. The worldwide semiconductor revenue figures for 2016 is forecasted to generate a total of $333 billion which is a slight decrease of 0.6 percent from 2015.

Facebook is unveiling a new land-based systems in order to provide connectivity to people in urban areas with poor signal. This comes on the heels of Facebook launching air drones to provide internet to remote spots. Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg emphasized that this was an important bullet point on their Facebook’s global agenda and will be making a more concerted effort into making the social network more widely and readily available to all parts of the world, especially those in the urban settings that are experiencing poor connectivity.

It’s actually not what you think. Airbus Group the Aircraft maker is in extensive talks with some very prominent companies in India such as Bharat Forge and Mahinda & Mahindra to have their parts forged. This move is an attempt to expand its supplier base and increase its outsourcing activity in India. Airbus has stated that this move is just the first of many stages of integration and that India should be immersed at all levels of the manufacturing process. The Economic Times reports that Airbus Group’s sourcing from India is expected to reach 2 billion or Rs 12,600 crore within the next five years and those are more conservative estimates.

Also Panasonic is currently the supplier for all of Boeings 787 dreamliners and 747-8 international aircrafts. Intel is one of the largest and highest valued semiconductor Companies, has quietly launched a new program for Laptops and notebooks which was revealed as a new Skylake-U system-on chip for low power laptops which is called the Corei7-6660u. The chip is based on 14nm processing technology which is packed with two core packs clocked at 2.40GHz. This new chip is a little upgrade from the older chip known as the i7-6650U which pretty much does the same thing just at a little slower pace clocking in at 2.20Ghz. The two chips have both been on the market for the same price at $415 in 1,000 unit quantities.

Regular maintenance is taking place on all PV2 aircrafts after Neptune Aviation Services temporarily moved all flight, pilot and maintenance crews to Alamogordo-White Sands Regional Airport from their home base in Missoula, Montana in anticipation of a training schedule that is expected to last up to a couple of weeks. The U.S. Forest Service regularly teams up with aerial firefighting company Neptune Aviation to fight forest and wildfires on a national level.

Although the Middle East is currently in the midst of an economic slowdown due to lower oil prices, business jets are still receiving high levels of interest.   French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation is a key example of continued growth in the region, and they were one of them largest attendees at the recent Abu Dhabi Air Expo. The company reported that they have continued to receive orders for many of their aircraft lines, and interest has been especially strong for their 7X business jet. Nearly of 300 Falcon 7X aircraft have been produced in the last decade alone.

Airlines in the United States saw record breaking numbers in 2015 for passenger traffic, setting new marks across the board.
Last year, all the nation’s airlines combined carried a total of 798.4 million passengers. That’s the equivalent of every single citizen in the United States flying more than twice, on average. Paying passengers traveled a combined 902.4 billion miles. To put that number into perspective, the distance between the Sun and Pluto is 3.67 billion miles. Unfortunately, this number does not include unknown stowaways hiding in the wheel wells. Planes were as full as they have ever been, with the average capacity at 83.8% percent.
